Today we announced Tippr’s patent licensing program. The program makes our comprehensive group buying patent portfolio available to just about everyone in the industry. Patent licensing and protection has already been an important component of our PoweredByTippr white-label platform for publishers, and now we’re making our licenses available completely separate from the PBT technology platform, to independent software developers, deal sites, publishers, or anyone interested in the technologies covered.

You may have seen a few stories lately around the dispute between Groupon and MobGob. That drama really highlights the importance of patents in the group buying space, because most folks aren’t aware that they could be infringing upon intellectual property.
